Gift a Coffee to a Friend, Via Twitter
Starbucks has a new program where you can use Twitter to give a gift of coffee. After you sign up, you simply send a tweet to a friend and they get a $5 Starbucks gift card.
First you 'sync' your account at Starbucks to your Twitter account. Then, to send the gift, you sent a tweet, with two handles in it: your friend, and "@tweetacoffee". The format of your message is:
@tweetacoffee TO @recipient
As an added bonus, the first 100,000 people who signup, get a $5 credit for themselves too, after they send their first gift. Starbucks does programs like this to increase their number of followers on a social network.
This service is one more example of how the online and offline worlds are interconnected.
