Coffee Alternatives: Motto Matcha Green Tea

Green Tea Soda - and it tastes great!

We recently tried Motto Matcha Green Tea, a sparkling (slightly carbonated) tea drink in a can, and it was really good.  Lightly sweetened with honey, it had a great flavor - even people who don't normally like green tea will like this.  We recommend it!  You can find it at DrinkMotto.com.  Check it out!

Our favorite morning beverage is coffee, but it is nice to find coffee alternatives.  As they say, variety is the spice of life !!!

There are Many Coffee Alternatives

Coffee is not the only hot drink out there, and not everyone can drink coffee.  Its nice sometimes to try something new, just fore variety!  We have compiled a list of some of the more intersting choices.  Tea has an almost-unlimited variety of flavors, and there are many more choices.  Some are herbal blends, and there are even mushroom blends now.   (We tried one, Mud/Wtr, and it is not very good - in fact here is a very humorous review of just how bad Mud/Wtr is).

Here are some of the choices (in non particular order)

  • Chicory coffee
  • Matcha tea
  • Golden milk
  • Lemon water.
  • Yerba mate
  • Chai tea
  • Rooibos tea
  • Roasted Fig
  • Beetroot blends
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Kombucha
  • Protein Drinks
  • Dandelion Tea
  • Yerba Mate, and similar drinks made from the Holly tree (including Yaupon, and Guayusa)
  • Eucalyptus tea (you can just go pick the leaves, and brew)
  • nuJo (blend of organic quinoa, chicory root, orange peel, cloves, allspice, and superfood MCT coconut oil)
  • Choffy, Teechino, or Pero (blends of seeds, fruits, nuts, and organic herbs like chicory, carob, dandelion, and barley)
  • Green Tea (it has EGCG, a very healthy ingredient)
  • Warm Milk with Turmeric and Honey
  • Chocolate Milk
  • Orzo (Barley) 'Coffee'
  • Warm water, to start your day, and wash the Esophagus clean
  • Fruit Jucies such as Orange, Concord Grape, or Grapefruit Juice
  • Various milk alternatives, such as Soy Milk or Cashew Milk, perhaps warmed?   With Turmeric & Honey!
  • Herbal 'Coffees'
  • Mushroom drinks (still has some caffeine)

Coffee Alternatives?   There are Many Choices.

The Best Alternative to Coffee: TEA!

There are thousands of different tea's in the world, and most people have no idea the breadth of flavors that await.  Every country on Earth has tea, and there are many ways to brew tea.  In fact, tea brewers can be an art form, even more than coffee brewers.  There is something very satisfying about a very nice tea, brewed in a beautiful brewer and in an elegant cup.

Tea can be more inexpensive than coffee, too.  Many people buy tea in bulk, which is far cheaper than buying tea bags.

What about 'Mushroom Drinks'? (Hint: Avoid Mud/Wtr)

We keep hearing about 'coffee alternatives', and one of them are the Mushroom drinks.  We tried Mud/Wtr and did not like it; there is no reason to buy Mud/Wtr. The company seems to have a lot of hype via advertising, and poor customer service. There are other mushroom-based drinks, and we have not tried any of them - but if you do, be careful not to waste your money; only try if they have a free or low-cost sampler.  Mud/Wtr does not give refunds, so best to avoid them.

Cold Alternatives

Kombucha is an amazing drink, and is healthy for you.  It can help the stomach in particular.  There are many flavors of Kombucha, but just remember it has some caffeine; it is usually made from tea, so have it more early in the day, or perhaps with lunch.  Another choice, are protein drinks; you can stock up on Sunday and them at-the-ready all week.  Many have very high sugars so read labels carefully.  You can even buy coffee-flavored protein drinks :).

Alternative Coffee Brewing Methods

Instead of an alternative drink, how about an alternative coffee?  Some people are unable to handle the acidity of regular coffee but they find that cold brew works.  So try cold brew; you can make it at home, too (it is an overnight process).  There is a brewer out now, made by Zencore, that will make cold brew in just 20 minutes - and it tasts good. You can find it on Amazon.
